Accidently dropped laptop - HELP!
Last night my son accidently dropped my laptop on the tile in our kitchen. Now when I turn it on the dell icon comes up like its loading and then it will say "we couldn't complete the updates, undoing changes, do not turn off your computer" and it stays on that screen for about a half an hour to an hour and doesn't change. Sonetimes the screen will go black and won't do anything, so ill turn it off and back on and it just does the samething.
Can someone please give me some advice on what to do?

Press f12 at powerup, boot to the Dell diagnostics and run an extended test on the hard drive. If the system was powered on when it fell, chances are the hard drive has been damaged.
If the drive fails with a 2000-0142 or similar error, it will need to be replaced.

I pressed F12 when I turned it on and the screen is just blank. Am I doing it wrong or something?

Ok I figured it out. The code was 2000-0142. So what should I do now?

You need a new hard drive - the fall destroyed the one you have. If you need a recommendation for a drive, please post the system model.
If you didn't prepare a set of recovery media when you received the system, you will also need to contact Dell for that (the drive will come blank, so you will need the media to reload the OS).
