Battery never stop charging vostro 3460

Hi,

I got a vosto 3460 since about one month now. All fine, got it working under ubuntu 11.10. All fine really!

But since few days (2?) my battery never stop charging, when reqching 90% the charge (~13W) drop exponentially to almost 0. Basically when i got to 10 min missing i drop to 6 to 7 hours missing for battery to be charge.

I have just tried under windows, same problems i am heres ince 10 min and still stuck at 94% and any way when the computer if off the battery light remain.

When i spoke about 94% i spoke about the charge, not the capacity of the battery which already droped to 98.x . I juts want to get back to the 100% of the 98.x

Hope i am clear...

Is that good for the battery? i guess not! Does any one enconter the same problem?

Thanks for your inputs!,

Finally the battery reach 100%, but since then i haven't unplugged and charge again...  I will make some test and will let you know.

I also have those messages (only twice) when power on that i should be using the 90W AC adaptor from Dell.  while, obviously i was! I guess there is a link. But for now i need to pursue some more test.

Hi jtbess,

You may try the following steps to have the issue fixed.

1. Releasing the remaining static power from your system by shutting it down and removing both Battery and Ac Adapter. Once done, press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds and then connect both the battery and Ac Adapter. Now check if the issue is fixed.

2. We can check the battery health in the Battery meter. Please locate the system tray towards the bottom right of the screen and right click on the battery icon and select Dell battery meter. Once the dialog box opens, select the battery health and check if the battery health is normal.

3 You may also try flashing the BIOS of your system. Find the BIOS software from the below link. While updating the BIOS, please connect the battery and Ac Adapter, and do not use the system until the system restarts after the update.

I hope this helps
