Blinking battery light? Even when plugged in
I have an Inspiron 9300 that we got last march (2005)
2 days ago the battery light began blinking orange all the time. It blinks even when it's plugged in to charge. Does anyone know what this means?
If I take the battery out and push the buttons to check how long it's been charged? only 3 lights light up. (Every other light)
Thanks!

Do pursue it. I think the company should have notified everyone who bought a laptop during the period in question. I heard about the battery on the news, not from Dell. My charger does get hot and I guess I should unplug it as soon as it reaches 100%; the batteries do seem OK. If a faulty battery ruined your computer, Dell should replace it! I say this even though I own Dell stock which will go down with all this happening. Should have sold it long ago. My nephew and brother both got Sony laptops and like them from what I have heard. Someone is always having a sale on some brand so you are sure to find a good deal.
So far I have been pretty happy with the Inspiron, but now we are having network problems and I don't know what or who is responsible. The cards all show they are working so I am still waiting to hear from Netgear. Meanwhile I am trying to decide whether to switch to FIOS. We have enough problems with DSL at times and the support isn't much better than Dell's!

I am glad Dell has responded in a postive manner. They must be reading the message boards :smileyhappy: I am sure they are getting a lot of complaints and now Apple is having problems with batteries so they are not alone. We do get too dependent on computers and when we can't use them it is hard.
Good luck with the fix--I hope it solves the problem. I know so little that it is hard to understand all the technical terms. After A national chain of computer people ruined my first Dell, I found a computer tutor who comes to the house and is cheaper than the chain and we always get the same guy so he is familiar with our machines. It is about time to have him come again to get the router problem fixed; I am afraid to follow the directions from Netgear as it might make matters worse.
