I would say No.

You can use many  Socket P processors with a TDP of 35W or less.

This includes the P8700, P8800, and P9700.

Quads and Extremes will most likely not work.

Can you confirm that the original shipped heat sink is adequate for all of these CPUs?

Can anyone confirm whether or not the supplied heat sink is adequate for a p9700 CPU?

thank you andrewpdx - I appreciate your help. How can I tell which CPU is the fastest possible supported by that motherboard? I can't find it in the Dell manual anywhere. I am thinking if a P9700 is ok then why not the T9900? While I believe the previous poster I just want to be able to see this information for myself. Thanks for your help.

I have a T3400 now.

I just did it earlier this evening, swapping out a T4400 to a T9800. The new CPU actually runs cooler than the old 4400 did, and it's a lot faster. So if the OP or anyone else still needs confirmation, yes, the T9800 works well in an Inspiron 1545.
