Can I use 1720 Power Adapter on New 15r Special Edition?
Hi,
I just ordered a new Inspiron 15r Special Edition and was wondering if the power adapter from my old 1720 can be used on my new 15r special edition? They're both 90 watt power supplies I believe.

Welcome to the Community,
The Inspiron™ 7520/15R (SE) is offered with the following AC adapters:
65W 3-Pin Adapter for systems with Integrated Graphics.
90W 3-Pin Adapter for systems with Discrete Graphics.
It can be used as long as its a Dell AC adapter.Check in BIOS (tap F2 on start up) and make sure the AC adapter type is getting detected normally.

Hi ctenormran,
You can use both,however 3 prong adapter would be considered more safe.

Great stuff, thank you! Also, I have a 3 prong adapter and another that is only 2 prong. The two prong one came with my old 1720. Can I use the two prong adapter as well, or is a 3 prong adapter the only one safe to use? Thanks!
