Can't Ghost Inspiron 1501

Configuration:

Inspiron 1501 - latest BIOS, updates, patches - works fine, no performance issues.

Internal CD/DVD-R (not used) USB: external USB Modular Bay Floppy with Boot Disc (boot floppy) -recognized

USB: external MadDog DVD+-RW for the image creation (destination) -recognized

boot sequence: USB, removable, CD/DVD, broadcom PXE, hard drive

With this Ghost and process, I've created images of other notebooks (d800, d820, d420) and other PC's (GX270, GX520, GX620, GX745).

I have created a deployment folder and a setup manager in this folder where my sysprep setup is created using the setup GUI as a fully automated installation. this has all gone fine and I'm comfortable with the process, as it is the same for other setups.

PROBLEM:
I can boot to the "Ghost boot floppy with USB support" disc, but it hangs after loading the mouse drivers.
It boots to floppy fine and starts PC-DOS, Loads the mouse driver, then hangs on "loading . . ." It doesn't proceed from here.
I have to do a forced shutdown.

How can I get Ghost 2003 to continue past this and copy my image to DVD ?

Thanks

Pauly99

Try using BartPE to build a WindowsPE type boot medium. DOS-based boots are becoming harder and harder to implement.

Does BartPE allow you to create a Ghost image? I have downloaded and begun playing with it, but I need more than a recovery disc. Is there something I'm missing in Bart? thanks pauly99

I found out from Norton that they don't support Ghost 2003 anymore, too old. Support is only available for Ghost 10 and Ghost 12. My quest continues. . . . .

Visit the Radified Ghost Forums. Those hobbyists know more about Ghost than Symantec does, and they're the experts on getting various USB drives to work from a boot disk.
