Chargers not charging Battery Pack
Hi
I have Inspiron 15R Laptop with original 65W charger.
Recently I noticed that the battery is not charging. I have tried all the tricks available on the net but none of them worked. I purchased a new charger but problem not solved. I can use my laptop only with AC mains.
What should I do?:emotion-42:

Hi ABU-HAFSS,
Thank you for the update.
None of the links you have provided works. I suppose they are one drive links with privacy settings on.
Kindly advise the exact CD ROM / ODD error you encountered on f12 diagnostics.
Kindly provide the adapter part# listed on the sticker and from where have you purchased it, so I could check and advise if the adapter is compatible to work with your machine.
Update the BIOS and check if it works - http://dell.to/2pHSLxr
Force the BIOS update if required - http://dell.to/2pHJmGq
Since the adapter shows unknown and if you have tested another original Dell OEM adapter and it exhibits the same behavior, then replace the dc port - http://bit.ly/2puwVSQ
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi ABU-HAFSS,
What is the exact system model?
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is there any damage on the system?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
If the adapter fits in loose or is not detected, replace the dc port. If not, replace the battery and check.
If nothing works, the motherboard needs to be replaced.
If there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Thanks Rishi for your response.
My model is Inspiron 15R 5537, Processor i5-4200.
I purchased the charger shown in the following link.
1drv.ms/.../s!AoTuA4fWLcNglwz8pqqKKWRmzyML
It stays firm when connected to the system.
No damage to the system, except the RH hinge cover is off.
In BIOS, it shows when connected and when removed.
In F12 diagnostics, I got error for the CD ROM as shown in this link
1drv.ms/.../s!AoTuA4fWLcNglwr1Zg_LMh29E-M4
rest OK as shown in this link

Your forum service does not offer attachment option that's why I used one-drive. Here you go again, please check these links:

Hi ABU-HAFSS,
There is an option to directly attach an image to your response before you post it.
I suppose we have some network security issues at the moment, as I am unable to open these links as well.
I shall review them and keep you posted about it tomorrow.

Thanks for your prompt response.
I am sorry, I was looking for the usual paper clip icon for the attachment. Anyway, here is photo of the charger and screenshot of the error regarding CD ROM.
I updated the drivers and my charging issue is resolved. It was resolved during Chipset updates.
However, the following updates are not working:
Input_Driver_FXKGJ_WN32_19.0.9.4_A00.EXE
Network_Driver_J72XV_WN32_7.35.267.0_A00.EXE
Network_Driver_KXHK3_WN32_10.0.0.0_A00.EXE
Network_Driver_XT97T_WN32_7.35.333.0_A04.EXE
Video_Driver_6YKW1_WN32_15.201.1101_A01.EXE
Kind regards

Hi ABU-HAFSS,
Thank you for the info.
I have checked the previous links as well.
Glad to hear the charging issue has been resolved. However, please be advised that the current charger in use with part# XK850 is not compatible with Inspiron 5537 as it has not been tested with the same.
The system was shipped out with part# 9RN2C.
Regarding the drivers, kindly advise what is the exact issue with the drivers. Do you have any issues with the wireless / wired networks?
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi Rishi
Thanks for your response.
I see that in my last post the CDROM error was not published. Here it is again:
Regarding the drivers, I do not have any issue with the networks. I just wanted to report that those drivers could not be installed.

Hi ABU-HAFSS,
The CD ROM/ ODD needs to be replaced.
This is the drive you would need - http://bit.ly/2pLZc3l
You could order it through our support site - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ or from any online reseller / local store.
Regarding the drivers - personally I would want to install or update any driver, if there is an issue with the machine. The drivers will automatically be updated part of Windows updates or through our Support Assist program.
Let us know if you have any other queries.
