Computer is very slow after waking up from Standby
When my computer wakes up after sleeping in Standby mode for over 15 minutes, it becomes very slow. CPU utilization for the process “System” is 100% so the computer practically hangs and takes forever to response to mouse/keyboard input. Does anyone know what is going on? I use Windows XP Professional SP1.

WYWMssn,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Go to Start-Run and type in msconfig and hit enter. The System Configuration Editor allows you to choose what loads as the system boots. Choose Diagnostics startup and hit ok. Say yes to reboot. When the system boots up you will see the boot menu, make sure that Normal mode is highlighted and hit enter. The system will now boot without loading any of the configuration files shown in the System Configuration Editor. Please use the system like this and see if the problem happens again. If it does not, then you can use the System Configuration Editor to determine which file is causing the problem.

I'll second this one. The 3Com Ethernet Controller driver in Windows XP does not resume from sleep properly and makes the system essentially unusable after sleep on the Inspiron 8200. Installing the Dell-provided driver for 3Com Ethernet fixes the issue.
