Cooling fun not turning off.

I have problem with my inspirion 7720.

Once fun turns on it will not stop cooling no matter how cold my laptop gets.
In order to turn off fun I have to sleep and wake my computer.

How to fix it?

Hi Hooch180,

Use this link for troubleshooting the fans and air vents: http://dell.to/L49lxh

Didn't help.

I have new (2 week old) laptop.

Drivers and BIOS up to date.

No dust (checked).

It cools my laptop to 34*C (in 20*C room) and it tries to cool it down even more.

Once my fans started they will not stop (ever). I need to restart PC.

Hi Hooch180,

Please try the below mentioned steps:

  1. Click Start button, click Control Panel, click System and Security, and then click Power Options.
  2. On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings for the plan that you want to change.
  3. On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.
  4. Scroll down to `Processor Power Management` > `System Cooling Policy` (Expand them both to view the options).
  5. Under `System Cooling Policy` > Change `On Battery` and `Plugged In` to ‘Passive`.
  6. Save the setting and restart the system.
  7. The fans should start functioning normally.

Please reply if the issue persists.
