DELL Inspiron N5010 battery issues
Hi,
I have been using my Inspiron N5010 laptop for the past two years. Last week I purchased a 9 cell battery since which was working fine for 2 days with battery life of around 4 and half hours. But after that it charged to 100% within an hour and lasted for less than an hour. Since then my laptop battery is not charging. The message that is displayed is 0% available, pluggedin, charging. What can be the issue and how can we fix this?
Thanks

Is the AC adapter properly recognized, or is it listed as "unknown". F2 at powerup to check.

I replaced my 9 cell battery with new regular one: cheapest solution. Now it is charging but the battery did not last long only less than an hour. "Consider changing battery" is a new error message on my new battery.
Next will be finding AC adapter to test it out. I hardly use my Dell laptop and kids are no longer interested. I want to make the best out of it without spending too much. Any suggestion.

Hi Netteligent,
I am sorry for the late reply. As suggested by ejn63, check if the Ac adapter is detected in BIOS. Restart the system and at the Dell logo tap F2 key every two seconds to open the BIOS screen. Check what is listed for Ac adapter type.
Also press F3 to launch Battery Meter to check the battery status. Check the Battery Status, Battery Health and reply with the status.
