Dead pixel line that is fixed with left side pressure

Inspiron 6000 1920 X 1200 LCD I have a single horizontal line of grey pixels that are somewhat reactive to change (they will go to black if I run the cursor over them for a while) appeared randomly. It was first fixed with a slap and was fine for a few days. They reappeared occationally and were fixed by gently pushing on the left side of the LCD perimeter cover at the point of the horizontal dead pixel line intersection. Now however, it takes a reasonable amount of pressure to get them to disappear and they reappear upon release. I first thought it might be a video connection to the MB but I don't think it is. I don't know enough about LCD anatomy to understand what the problem could be. Are there connectors for every pixel line running on the left side? Is it possible to pop it open and reinsert the individual pixel line connectors (if they exist). I have been looking for a good anatomy chart for the LCD but haven't run across one. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Not an ace at this but if tapping the screen does not free up a stuck pixel the display will need to be replaced.  It sounds like something more than a stuck pixel.  My guess is the display will need to be replaced to correct this.

Well, I'm not about to replace the LCD since that would be at least 350. I took it apart to see if there was anything out of the ordinary. Once I had it free I couldn't get the line to go out. It was perfectly fine. I thought that I may have fixed it secondarily to removing it. I couldn't get the line to appear without it in. So I happily put it back together. 2 seconds after I put the last outside screw cover on it reappeared. So, I've come up with a temporary solution. I just put a piece of a soft match under the cover at the location where I was applying the pressure. Works great. Hasn't come back yet. But I'm still open for recomendations...?

A stopgap is the fix you've used; the only permanent fix is a new panel.
