Dell Alienware 17 plugged in, not charging
I purchased my Alienware 17 in 2014, and recently it's been giving me issues. When I plug the adapter in it charges for a second, and then displays the message "AC adapter not supported" and stops charging. This isn't a huge issue as my laptop is plugged in most of the time, however it makes my laptop run incredibly sluggishly and is not capable of playing games at all.
Is there any way to turn this power saving mode off? I've tried uninstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant or w/e but that didn't work, and neither did a full power drain. I've checked the advanced power settings, but everything is still very slow despite it being set to max performance.
My battery icon reads "0% available (plugged in, not charging)"
Thank you for any advice. This is extremely frustrating!

I've recently bought a DELL laptop a couple of weeks ago and have the same issue for few times now (Inspiron 15 5000 Series).
I've tried unplug and plug-in the cable several times, but that didn't work. So I decided to shut down the computer and power-up again and that works.
