Dell Battery stuck at 1%
Ok so my Dell battery for my Dell laptop will not charge. It currently is at 1% and it says my charger is "plugged in, charging" when it clearly is not. It has been at 1% for hours now and I don't know why. I don't believe it is the battery because I go to the Dell Battery Meter page and it tells me that the battery is working normally. Also, if I unplug my charger my whole laptop shuts off. So I'm at a loss here. Why is it doing this and what do I do?

Hi,
When you remove the AC adapter and the battery doesn't have enough charge to power the system, the system will shut down.
The first thing I would recommend doing is going into your System Setup (BIOS) and seeing whether your system is recognizing the battery make & model. If not, you may want to reset your BIOS to factory settings (you should see that option in the BIOS list of options).
You don't mention the model of Dell laptop you're using, but I would recommend going to our main Dell support pages, inputting your service tag so the website will refresh and direct you to the support pages for your model, and click on the Downloads & Drivers page. Look under the BIOS category on the downloads pages and install the latest version if you don't have it. Please follow the directions on the download page how to run the install and make sure you keep the system plugged in via the AC adapter while running the update.
Here is a link to an article on battery and AC adapter issues. You can find more information on how to troubleshoot battery issues on that article, and I would recommend reading it and trying some of the suggestions you'll find there.
Please let us know what you find out when you go into the BIOS of your laptop, and what model / make of laptop you have. Plus, what operating system are you using on the laptop. If the BIOS updates don't work we'll see what else we can suggest to help you.

Honestly now that I think of it I am pretty sure that it is my battery thats the issue. Ive had this laptop for 3+ years and its probably just starting to wear down. I remember when I first had this laptop I used to be able to go 1.5 hours without the charger before I needed to charge it. Then over the past year or so I was lucky to last a half hour without it. Now I can't go without it at all. So it most likely is the battery thats the issue here.
I also did that driver update and it updated 3 different drivers but my battery still remains at 0%. And yes its now at 0% instead of 1 %. I'm just thinking its the battery at this point. I do appreciate the help though.
