Dell Inspiron 1525 Snapped Hinge
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop and yesterday discovered that the plastic hinge on the right side of the screen has snapped and is now bent to the point where it is difficult to open and close. I have seen another post regarding this issue, however the instructions to fix this problem show a laptop with a different type of hinge. My laptop has two hinges on each side and the one closest to the right edge of the computer is the one that has snapped. I need to get this fixed as soon as possible as I rely heavily on this laptop for my school work. HELP! Please!

If the hinge is what failed, replace these:

If it's the hinge mount that failed, you will need the back cover assembly:

Don't operate the system with a broken hinge - it won't take much to break the LCD screen, which will greatly increase the cost of repair.

I may have misspoke. The hinge appears to be OK, though it's hard to tell. What appears to be the problem is the plastic piece that is connected to the surrounding of the LCD screen that covers the front face of the hinge. That is sticking out and is now bent and not connected to anything but the bottom of the screen's outside plate. It looks like the only piece that might be needed is the outside of the screen but I'm not sure what actually broke. It might be a small clip on the back of that piece that came unattached from the rest... I may have to send a picture if this doesn't explain it well enough. ???

The piece next to the black screw cover on the bottom right is where the issue seems to be...

It's the back cover assembly you must replace.

That piece serves no physical function - it's just cosmetic. If it popped free, something else is broken.

Hi, I had the same trouble. I've had a dell inspiron 1525 for about 3 years, and the same piece broke. Thanks so much for posting this question, because only through this was I able to find the piece i needed to replace it.
