Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 Ram Compatibility
I just recently picked up a Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 w/ an 3rd gen i5 3210M and a HM77, A19 Bios....I was wondering if anyone can help find the max supported ram and Cas Latency it could take? Specs say I cant go past 8GB but I read the i5/HM77 can go up to 32GB? They also say to use DDR3L-1600 but when I go on crucial or new egg they say I can use DDR3L-1866?
It currently has just an 8GB DDR3L-1600, dude before me was running the max 8GB on one slot and a 4GB on the other for some reason so I want to pick up a pair to utilize the dual channel. It recognized the 12GB he had in it so I figured the 16GB might work
Any insight would be great
Thanks

I did install 2x 8GB Corsair Vengance in my 5720 and it just works totally fine. It's DDR3-1600 and also i did upgrade from a Broadcom ( dell 1704 ) to a Intel AC7260 wifi card, which improved the network speed more.
AIDA64 says that this chipset supports upto 32GB, but since i've read that dell supports only max 8gb, im not so sure about this.
From what i did notice that Windows responds a little bit faster with this ram also, my windows is installed on the msata ssd from samsung.
The stock seagate drive is way and way to slow for what i do with it and also it does make funny and crazy noises now and then. Did it after just 1 year of ownership. I'd like to see Dell using WD drives.
