Dell Inspiron N5010 Minimum CPU temperature to run a fan? (Problem I need to slove)

Almost same story as yours. Few seconds after turning on. my N5010 i3 370M, 4 GB, 500GB, ATi 550v is reving at 4950 rpm no matter what is happening with the laptop and no matter what is the temperature inside. I saw that speed in low 20s celsious and also in high 40... always on and always at 4950 rpm. ... and all that from the moment I upgraded BIOS from A07 to A11... no action helped after that moment.

Any help? (DELL is so quiet about that problem, why? And I am not the only one with this kind of problem)

i think that dell didnt gave any attention to its cooking system. i have seen the inside of it and looking at it doesn't make any sense. it doesnot have a decent air flow system. for that kind of hardware specs small heatsink doesnt cool the system thats why fan keeps spinning all the time. the heat generated from cpu and gpu are intense. just think if these specs were in the desktop version there would be big heatsinks and good airflow system with good fan. i think dell didnt gave any priority to is cooling system, they just gave attention to is hardware muscle. i just compare my dell to asus. both have same kind of hardware specs but asus have good dual airflow design and its fan spins randomly and giving battery life to maxtime. dell ran just 2 hours and asus ran 4 hours with just surfing the net and listening to music. i will never buy dell laptop anymore because its customer service is poor and its design and material is also of low quality. bye bye dell...all of your attention is taken by other new companies....who gives a lot better products than yours....

i have the same problem with my dell N5010. my motherboard has been changed twice due to this. but i don 't know what will happen when my warranty will expire. i have installed a temperature monitor which shows  ATI temp up to 80 degree celcius while playing games. there is lot of heat generation near RAM chamber. when i compared this to my friend's lap running core i3, 32, bit then i found the temperature was not too much as mine. i am sure after few month i will have the same problem again. i appreciate dell products i have one dell studio laptop that runs quite well. i bought this laptop considering the 1 GB graphics card but now i am very upset seeing the performance of my laptop. i just want to replace it  or dell should atleast provide a cooling stand to its customers of N5010. heat sink mechanism with a single fan is not enough for cooling this. sorry dell you are not making us happy.

HI i recently bought N5010 i5, ATI HD, 4GB, because of my bios failure i got a new motherboard replace due to my warranty. I saw my laptop being opened and installed new motherboard but i noticed that, they did not put thermal paste in the cpu. first time the laptop shutdown due to overheating and again they put some thermal compound (old left residue from ATI Chip) and now it runs smoothly.

PROBLEM IS THE COOLING FAN SPINS IF THE TEMP OF CPU IS JUST 20c. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT ARE THE RIGHT CPU TEMPERATURES TO GET THE COOLING FAN TO SPIN. DO I HAVE TO REAPPLY NEW THERMAL PASTE? PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE CPU TEMPERATURES AND FAN BEING STARTED IN DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES.
