Dell Inspiron n5110 heating issue
hi..i bought dell inspiron n5110 2 days ago..i noticed its left hand palm rest gets warm sometimes and it gets hot sometimes from the bottom part of the device..i used a temperature monitor program and i found my temp is at 55 degree while surfing and 65 while playing a normal game.. not a high graphics one..whats the solution for this issue and is that temprature normal or not..and that left hand palm rest getting warm normal or shall i return it..a help would be appreciated..thnx:emotion-2:

The hard drive is on the left front of the system, under the system board, so that may be what is making the system feel warm. The temps do seem that they are in the right range. I don’t know what processor shipped with your notebook, but you can look it up on Intel's website, and see what it's TCase or TJunction for normal operating temps.
If you are concerned that the system is overheating, I certainly suggest running diagnostics. Start the system holding down FN or tapping F12 and choose diagnostics. Run the basic tests and see if there is an option to run a fan test. If you receive errors please reply back here.

55, 65 is not bad but if you want get a cooler pad. I use two pieces of soft wood 1 inch by 3 inches by one foot long to give a air gap at the bottom of three inches. Try it and see the difference with a poor mans cooler pad ;).

Thanks for the post Kamasud, I like the poor mans cooler pad, it should work well in keeping the notebook away from its exhaust.

Please I have the same laptop dell inspiron N5110 , I ran the Diagnoses and I FOUND A PROBLEM IN THE HARD DRIVE 0 !
What shall i do do I have to repaire it ,,, and yes IT IS VERRY OVER HEATING although im using a cooler ! and is the HARDDISK problem an easy one ??

hello everyone,,,,i want to help all the n5110 users.this laptop has a lot of drawback,but i still love it.over heating is the main problem, so i want to suggest you some settings.Just edit ur power plan.
1) go to the battery icon at the bottom of ur screen.
2.)click on more power options.
3)click on change power setting(on the current power plan,either balanced or high performance).
4)click on Change advanced power setting.
5)than click on "processor power management"
6)than maximum power state.
7)Set it to the 60% for both on battery and for pugged in.
HENCE PROBLEM IS SOLVED
