Dell Inspiron plugged in, not charging

When I plug my laptop in it won't charge and will only run while plugged in. It is stuck at 1% and says it is plugged in and not charging. I have had this problem a few times before but it somehow went away and worked again without me intentionally doing anything. I have ran diagnostics from the Dell website but it said there were no errors. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this?

Hello List011,

In order to assist you, please help me with the system model. Also try the following steps which would help us in isolating the issue further:

  • Check if the AC Adapter is detected in BIOS. To enter BIOS setup, restart the computer and keep tapping F2 at the Dell logo screen.
  • Try with a Known Good AC Adapter and check if the issue persists.
  • Try booting the computer only with the AC Adapter connected and check if the system boots.
  • Also try booting the computer with only the battery plugged in and check if the computer is booting into windows.
  • I would also request you to check if the battery charge is disabled in battery meter. To open battery meter, click the battery icon on the system tray.
