Dell Latitude C600 CPU upgrade

Basically, I currently have a Dell C600 Laptop with a 550MHz Intel Pentium 3 CPU SL4JZ  installed and i was wondering what my motherboard was capable of handling.

From other posts, I've read that you can tell what CPU you can get based on the DP/N numbers. Here are mine:

DS/N TW-086WDV-12800-123-7701

DP/N 086WDV C/O TW Rev A04

DP/N (on case): 1U153#2C 3C

Can you tell me What I can get? I'm trying to upgrade this as much as possible.

Thanks,

-Quentin

PS: if you could tell me if the video and graphics cards are upgradable as well, thnx

It will depend on the version of the mainboard in the system - some can go as high as 1GHz.  Others are limited to 750 or 850 MHz.  Since yours is on the slower side, assume the 750 MHz P3 is as fast as you can go.

Really? I've read about people with these numbers at least making it up to 850MHz. What if I flash the BIOS to A23? Will that change anything?

Also, I'm curious - Why is there processing differences within the same model of computer?

Because there were three different boards used.  Generally, all can go to 750 - those that shipped with 750s can go to 850 and those that shipped with 850 can go to 1 GHz.
