Dell Latitude c600 BIOS

I have a Dell Latitude laptop c600. I was using the laptop and I shutdown.  When I tried to restart it!!!!! It does boot past the BIOS screen, it just keeps booting over and over and over at the BIOS screen. Any idea on how to fix this problem would be great.

I've tried your suggestions , but It's still restarting at the Dell Splash screen.  I'm running win98 and I've gone into the BIOS and the BIOS see's the harddrive.  I've also update the bios to the latest version.

Thanks for your help.

1.  Try to completely shutting down the system (hold down the power button for several seconds), remove the battery, and any other external devices you have connected to it and restart.  If this doesn't work, try step #2.

2.  Try to hit the key to get into the bios/setup screen (F1 and/or F2 key most cases, it will tell you what key to hit when the dell splash screen comes up) when you get into the bios/setup screen, see if your hard drive is showing up in the list of boot devices.  Let me know if it's there.

By the way...... what o.s. is on the system?

Try booting from a floppy disk, if successful:

1) Run the dell diagnostics.

2) Check if you can read the C: drive. If so run scandisk on the C drive and retry booting from HDD.
