Dell M4400 Audio Stutter
Has anyone experienced audio stuttering on the Precision Mobile M4400? I installed Vista 32-bit and 64-bit and all the included Dell drivers but still experience the problem. I've updated the BIOS as well with no luck.
Thanks,
Mark

I thought maybe it's the Wireless adapter but it's not. I physically removed it but the problem is still there.

Same problem on a Latitude E6400.
Is your problem only related on audio, or also on video?

I'm not sure which item I did helped, but here is a few things that improved, but did not resolve, the stuttering. Now it's more like a glitch than a stutter and happens less often. It's still annoying as heck!
1) Go to Device Manager and right-click > Properties on your Wireless NIC. Go to the Advanced tab and selected "Disable" and select A (diable Wireless A Band).
2) Uninstall the included audio driver and use the generic Windows Vista audio driver
3) Uninstall all the Cisco PEAP, LEAP, etc. Wireless extensions from Control Panel -> Programs and Features
Just a reminder, this issue is annoying as heck!

I haven't reverted any of the steps I posted ^above^ but the only additional step I performed is installing the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager software from the Dell support/driver download page and now I am streaming from XM radio via Windows Media Player with no glitches or stutters. I've had the same successful results using both the Wireless and Wired network adapters.
I'm not going to say this is officially "resolved" because I want to let run for a few days to make sure the issue doesn't pop-up again.

Ok, this was the only update that I forgot to install *g*
Well, I'm testing with music. He got the new Coldplay-Single quiet without stuttering, but I will not raise up my hands and jump around. Tomorrow, I'll test the Lord of the Rings SimarillonAudio-Book, if this suceeds, I'll speak of a light at the horizont (I love music, and stuttering music is the purest horror imaginable).

I notice when Vista boots and plays the first bit of audio just as the password screen comes up, it glitches slightly. I'm guessing the Intel Matrix software must somehow be involved with preventing the stuttering. More than likely once Windows finishes loading all the drivers/services upon booting and logging in, the glitch goes away.

Im not gonna be of much help here either but I experienced the stuttering as well. I had to do a full Vista 64 re-install for other reasons and I havent had problems after that. I dont have the matrix storage manager installed however at this moment and my audio playback is good. I also have earlier audio drivers and not the latest. IM not gonna fix it now cause it aint broken :)
