Dell Vistro 1500 Microphone unusable
Hi there, as my title says, I own a dell vostro 1500, and the built in mic is unusable, as it either has VERY LOUD interference, or sounds like I am talking underwater, using an external mic is no different.
I have a 3 year warranty on this machine, but as the vostro is a business laptop and Voip is getting more popular, why would dell ship the vostro knowing about the Microphone problem, as from searching the web it appears to be very common, and not much I can do.
Do I just have to accept I have spent money on a laptop, which has unusable mic/sound recording??
Any suggestions??

Hi ledward - thanks for the reply, did try the external option, but that is just as bad, and on doing some research, it appears the onboard sound card used for the Vostro 1500 is practically useless, for even basic Microphone use or sound recording.
Only solution is to buy an external USB sound card, which I have just ordered, so its not as big a deal as i first expected, just the annoyance of having more external devices for the laptop!

zelgay,
Try posting your question on the Laptop General Hardware Board for a better chance at getting an answer specific to your situation. You might get an answer on this board (this is the Laptop Audio Board) but more eyes will see your post on the other board.
