Dell XPS 14 Fan Noise
Hello,
I bought Dell XPS 14 few days ago, and I'm seriously worried about the fan noise. I have heard fan noises before, but this is different and irritating. I took my laptop to my office and everybody loved it till the fan started,. Dell people I've been your customer for like past 5 years and I recommended two of my friends to buy Inspiron 14z. and this how you repay me. I don't expect facing such type of issues after spending 1300 quid!! Please tell me how to fix this??

Hi hannan.nasir.
I understand how annoying this noise could be. Please clean the air vents of the fans also flash BIOS to the latest version from the link below:
Select the link appropriate to the model of the system:
XPS 14 (L421X) http://dell.to/116fxfw
XPS 14 (L412Z) http://dell.to/14r3VZ0
While flashing BIOS connect the Ac adapter and make sure the battery has minimum 15% charge as this needs uninterrupted power supply. Do not use the system till it restarts and comes up to the desktop.
Flashing BIOS should resolve the noise issue. In case the issuer persists, I request you run the test on the Fan. Restart the system and at the Dell logo keep taping the F12 key every 2 seconds. This will start the One-time boot menu. Using arrow keys select ‘Diagnostics’ and hit enter. This will run quick test without waiting for your input. To select a specific test, you can either wait till the quick test completes or press Esc. Next a list of test available will be displayed. Please select Fans and click Run test. Please reply with the status of the test to assist you further

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it didn't work out.. The fan is still making the same noise, i don't understand?? The fan noise is like, its hiting onto something..and the worst part is I got this laptop as a present from UK. And now i can't go back to claim the warranty. Please advive what to do. If I would like to see what's happening inside the machine by openning it, will it void the warranty??
