I checked with Dell, and accoprding to my service tag number, I should have a backlight keyboard.. Any help will be much APPRECIATED..

Thanks for the info Rick.

I've been looking thru the registry but haven't found anything yet that could adjust this. Hmm

Guess I'll hope Dell solves the issue.

Thanks

Bob

Bob,

The unit they tried it on kept the settings, but ours don't.

Do you have a bluetooth adapter? If so, put your computer to sleep, start, sleep. wait 30 seconds after the computer is shutdown. Wake up the computer. Is your WiFi Technology Adapter missing?

Restarting your computer brings it back.

Hi Rick

Yes, I do have Bluetooth.

I tried your suggestion.

Both Blutooth and Wi-Fi were still there and working.

Rick

I think I just got mine working.

try this.

Windows Mobility Center and bring up the Backlight Window.

Change to 5 Min or whatever you want, click OK

Change Keyboard Lighting to off, click OK.

Change Keyboard Lighting to on, click OK.

Turn off Laptop

Turn back on.

This worked for me.

Bob,

That did not work for me.

Unplug your computer and work on battery.

Shutdown your computer.

Wait 1 minute, then start the computer. Look at the backlit keyboard settings. Waht do you see?

Here is an image of my adapter after the computer sleeps, start, sleep or if it manually sleeps.

Hey Rick

Still haven't seen anything from Dell.

Kinda getting tired of re-setting the timer for the keyboard back light every time I turn my laptop on.

Have you found anything yet? I've tried multiple Registry edits with no luck.

Kinda getting frustrated, their tech support is kinda lacking.

Gotta be careful of what you type.

Don't wan't to put the letter n after a big concrete water holding device or the letter d in front of a furry rodent's name or the manufactures name in vane.

I am still waiting too.

I don't think it's high on their list of things to fix.

I have decided to return this laptop to Costco where I purchased this.

Dell is no different than HP when it comes to customer support..

not to discriminate but their support are base in India like HP..  My many experiences with their supports proves that they are not competent

I have decided to ban Dell from my house after all this time buying product

Im bold to say that I will go with either Apple or Sony Viao when it comes to laptop or notebooks.

If they want to win in this competitive world they should not only try to win new customers but esp take care of regular customers.

sorry for saying this but Dell jusst lost another old customer

Hi all, I found out that my backlit connector was unplugged, so I went to a Dell service centre and got it re-connected.. Some of you might have that very simple issue.. All you need to do is get the connector plugged in properly..

Hope this helps..
