XPreinS,
Press the F6 key once. It should go bright, press again, dim, press again, off
Press the multimedia button with the gears. You should see the Windows Mobility Center.
You should see the keyboard brightness settings.

XPrienS,
Sometimes screenshots are easier to see the issues. Glad you are getting this taken care of. I just recieved my Dell XPS 15 and it has a small issue, only 1 core working. Waiting for a replacement. I still enjoy helping others with their problems.
Take care,
Rick

Thank you very much friend.. However I do not have the keyboard backlighting option you do... I feel the backlighting connector has not been connected in properly.. I spoke to Dell and they are planning on shipping me a new keyboard since it is just 3days after I have purchased it..
Thanks a lot for your mail... Now I KNOW something is missing..

XPrienS,
LOGIN HERE (Same email address and password you use here)
Put in your Service Tag and description of you computer, XPS 15 W7, then click add.
Then click on the Service Tag number and it should give you a description of what is on the computer.
Mine shows up as...
The Dell Support Center does not state if the keyboard is backlit or not.
From what I'm seeing, it looks like you might not have the backlit keyboard and/or it's may not be attached properly. Looking at the Detailed System Information will clarify if it's there or not.

Hi, I wanted to ask you something out of the post I put up.. I have been using the JBL speakers and I have found this issue with the volume.. When I increase volume from say 0 to 50% It lags a little before volume increases.. around 2seconds.. furthermore, when I increase the volume slowly, 5%,10%,15%,20%... all the way to 100% the sound is louder than if I would just increase from 0 to 100% straight away.,. Is this something to do with my drivers? I am using Realtek ALC665 Audio Driver Is there a more newer version?
Do you have the same issue mate?

XPrienS,
Sorry fopr the delay. Had to wait until daytime to try the sound issue. I get the same results if I try turning the sound up fast or slow, so I don't think there is a difference.
Realtek High Definition Audio driver is current at 6.0.1.6240
Also I just found out, if you go to Drivers & Downloads, click on warranty status and enter your service tag number, the click on Origional System Configuration, you can see what the computer came with.

Thanks a lot for your reply Rick.. I went to Original System configuration and does not show anything about the JBL speakers or realtek software.. whats more, mine does not come with bluetooth.. Isn't bluetooth a default feature? I saw that in the clip you have put above you have a bluetooth tool, Mine doesnt.. Any comments on that mate?

XPrienS,
Adding Bluetooth was an option on mine.
Start, control panel, device manager, Sound, video and game controllers
This is where I found the Realtek information.
You can also run Finding System Information and at the bottom, you'll see what network adapters you have.

Is there a way to adjust how much time before the keyboard backlight automatically dims?

Peter,
Yes, we have found different settings for the keyboard.
Press the Multimedia key with the gears or go to start, control panel, Windows Mobility Center.
Press the little square next to the keyboard brighness on
You should then see this...
You have these options for how long you can have the keyboard lit. At first we thought they could not be changed but another member pointed this out and now the secret is out.

Bob,
Dell has been notified about this. They tried it and it kept the setting upon reboot. I told them to shutdown the computer. Wait a minute, then start the computer and check the settings. I'm sure they saw what you and me are seeing. Technicians will be looking into this. May take a little time.

Thanks for the insight, I have adjusted the timing, Unfortunately I need to reset the timing every time I power up. Would you know how to set this permanently?
Cheers
Bob
