Dell XPS L502X - Questions about upgrading to an SSD and adding Ram.

Hey everyone, I've had a Dell XPS L502x for around 3 years now, its been a great laptop for me but recently its been feeling very sluggish. I've backed up all important documents, photos, music and videos, and was preparing to do a clean install of Windows 10... Just to try and give the laptop a new lease of life. But then I started looking into doing upgrading, was thinking of adding 16gb of memory and a 250gb Samsung SSD.

Heres a link to the two items on Amazon I was thinking of buying, but to be honest I don't have much experience with this and would appreciate any and all feedback:

SSD: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P736UEU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=ATU0UC8IFD0R8

Memory: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00698WP50?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A15KH8GEK4WQL1

Now I've done a bit of research and the Samsung drive seems to be very popular and reliable, so I'm happy enough with it, but i'm not sure about the memory... It has a lot of good reviews, but a few very bad ones too.

If anyone has any experience with upgrading the L502x id love to hear some advice, thanks in advance.
