Hi all, I have had my Dell XPS L702X since march 2011. It constantly freezes and it says "website is not responding". I use CCleaner and Norton 360 which only helps breifly. When I restart my computer I often get an error message stating "Operating System not Found". I have restarted in Safe Mode with networking and it seems to work like new. A response from another post with similar problems says it is probably my operating system. What should I do?
Hi,
Welcome to the Community. I recommend your first run a diagnostics on your computer. Press the F12 key at the Dell Logo, select Diagnostics and run an extended diagnostics on your hard drive. Post back with any error codes.
If all the diagnostics pass then it could be an issue with your operating system. If you have already backed up your data then you can try a PC restore which restores the computer back to factory settings. Use the below link for help.
If PC restore does not work, then manually install windows.
Thank you.
Hello ED,
To help you in a better way, I would request you to help me with few details.
After you get the error as "Operating System not Found" are you able to log into windows?
Does your system work slow and freeze only on the websites or does it happen on start up as well?
Have you tried different browsers to check if they are doing the same thing?
Apart from these, there are few steps that I suggest you to try.
1. Doing a system repair.
-- Insert the Windows disk in the dvd drive.
-- Restart the computer.
-- Keep tapping F12.
-- Select the CD/DVD.
-- On the screen where it says Install, there would be another option “Repair my Computer”.
-- Click Repair my Computer.
-- Restart the computer, check if it boots without the error.
Refer the link mentioned below for the screenshots for the repair.

There is another link which would give us a fair idea about the issue.

Please try the steps and write back to us would be glad to help you further.
i think its just a problem with the software windows os .
you should restore your computer to factory default setting by pressing f8 at start.
Ok. Here's what I have tried:
Restart my computer and hit F12 at the logo.
Ran Diagnostics from the screen that came up. Diagnostics was titled "Pre-Boot System Assessment Build 4129"
Appeared to be ok, but response to hard drive test flashed to quickly to see it. However, at the completion of the test it said there were no problems detected.
I ran the hard drive stress test that was recommended by one of the Dell people that repsonded. No errors/problems were found.
I am weiry of wiping everything out with a system restore, but I do have a current backup on Norton's website and will copy what I can to a portable drive.
Any of suggestions?
Hi Ed,
If you can have the data backed up, I would suggest doing a OS Re-installation.
The following link provided below would help you to perform the PC Restore which restores the computer back to factory settings.

If PC restore does not work, then manually install windows from the OS disks.
