E-port II replicator / docking station USB 2.0 unresponsive after hot undock

I am using an E-port II (Basic) replicator with USB 3.0 ports on an e7440 laptop running Win 7. 

Everything works with one exception: when I hot undock the laptop (in wake mode) and then redock, the USB 2.0 ports (*not* the USB 3.0) on the side of the replicator won't recognize any input. I have to restart the laptop to get them working again. Otherwise I can undock the laptop in sleep mode and they will recognize. Again, only the USB 2.0 ports have this problem.

Is this a known issue and is there any solution?
