E6430 HD4000 NVS5200 issue. GC switch
Greetings ! Latitude e6430, win7 home premium x64.
I work with video and cg (AE, Cinema 4D). This software working better with NVS5200, but here is a problem/issue. I install HD4000 drivers, then NVS5200 drivers. In AE and C4D preferences, opengl primary work with NVS5200, and it's ok. But when I accidentally open "hd4000 graphic properties" on the desktop and close dialog (do nothing there), suddenly in AE and C4D, hd4000 become primary hardware for opengl. So, how to switch graphic cards back ? In program preferences it's implossible (system choose it somehow), NVIDIA control panel (3d choice) doesn't help. One way that can help is reinstall NVS5200 drivers. Same story if install NVS drivers, and then HD4000, last one become primary opengl graphic card.
Please help. And also i'm interested, why some cg plugins, and pc utilites doesn't see nvs5200 (but they must), they see only hd4000 as only one graphic card. In device manager and Speccy everything is ok. Why NVS looks like a gadget, not a primary gc ?
Thank you, All the best !

The Latitude E6430 is an Nvidia Optimus system, if you aren’t familiar with how Optimus works, the integrated graphics (Intel HD 4000) are the primary graphics card (not the discreet NVidia GPU). Intel HD graphics are never disabled in Optimus, and if you have a program configured for High Performance them the Intel HD graphics continues being the primary GPU, but the discreet Nvidia graphics will kick in to help Intel HD to render the graphics in the program that you are using.
It is a good plan and it gives a couple benefits over the older graphics switching, since in Optimus you aren’t actually switching from one GPU to another, you are actually running two GPUs to work at the same time. Not all programs though are compatible with Optimus, especially those using OpenGL.
You may wish to contact Adobe and Maxon and see if they have any support for Optimus systems or you can disable Optimus in the BIOS disabling integrated graphics and making the discreet Nvidia GPU as the one and only GPU. Start the system by tapping F12 and then choose BIOS, choose video, Optimus and uncheck “enable Optimus”.
