Error Code 0xc0000034 on Inspiron 14z 5423
My Inspiron 14z on day 2 of use wouldn't shut down. Whenever I click shut down, it restarts instead. I tried both signing out first before shut down as well as shut down from settings. I'm running windows 8. After about 8 times of failure to shut down I forced shut down with the power button. However when I tried to boot it again, I got the error which said my PC need to be repaired.
I read responses to a similar complaint on this forum and tried to boot from safe mode but it wouldn't. The dell logo appears but the dots do not. Any help?

Hi KDuedu,
Welcome to Dell Community Forum.
We are sorry about the inconvenience caused to you. Please click on the links below for troubleshooting No Boot issues with Windows 8.
How to boot to Windows 8 Recovery Environment: http://dell.to/10z6VkW
Factory image restore method for Windows 8 (DBRM): http://dell.to/17qnyno
Windows 8 Support : http://dell.to/ZCGPtD
Dell Backup and Recovery can recover the Operating system or backup from the recovery partition as well. This process will erase your hard drive, including your data, then re-install the previous backup file. This process once started, cannot be interrupted. If you attempt to interrupt the process (for instance, by turning off your system), your computer may not boot and could cause data loss.
Hopefully, following the steps mentioned in the links above will resolve the issue for you.
Please reply if you have further queries. We would be happy to help.
Thanks and regards,
Babita S

None of these is feasible since my PC is refusing to boot. The only message that comes is
Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
Boot file missing
File:\BCP
Error code:0xc0000034
If you don't have a recovery media (USB or CD), contact your system administrator or manufacturer

Hi KDuedu,
Thank you for your reply.
Is your computer successfully completing POST? Do you see steady or flashing LEDs?
In many cases a computer will not attempt to hand off control to the operating system. If you power the computer on and you see a Dell logo screen with a bar at the bottom, and that bar fills up completely and disappears, then your computer has successfully completed POST.
Please follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the link below. These steps are helpful in resolving No Boot/No Post issues on your Dell computer.

Hi Babita,
Sorry for the late response. The troubleshooting link didn't solve it so I called Dell technical services. I was guided through some troubleshooting to fix it but it still didn't work. He therefore placed an order for a recovery disk to be sent to me. I received the disk and was called to be guided to repair the lost boot files.
Note: It didn't need a complete system restore (factory image). The damaged file was repaired and everything is working now.
Thanks
