That link doesn't provide much info at all - install original OS?  I'm having this issue now on a system that came with Win 8 on it, and I'm trying to install Win 7. I have changed BIOS settings to work with the legacy OS but still get the ACPI compliant blue screen.  

Make sure you have the latest BIOS for the system - which model system are you installing?  Note: there are now systems out there that will not run Windows 7, particularly very new ones that shipped originally with 8.1.

^^^ Above pic is set up that usually works for Win 7 installation (secure boot disabled & legacy ROM option enabled).  But, it's not working for the Inspiron 11 3147.  (It DOES work with my Inspiron 11 3137, which is about one year older and came with Win 8, not Win 8.1)

It's an Inspiron 11 3147. It is a brand new model (well, a few months old) and shipped with 8.1.  I do have the latest BIOS (A03) - it came from the factory with it... I'm honestly thinking this is one of those that just won't install Win 7. Because I've successfully dealt with the "BIOS NOT ACPI COMPLIANT" thing before with no issues, but I can't resolve it this time.  Ah well, if that's the case, this is going right back because I'm one of those stubborn guys who won't use Win 8 lol.  Appreciate any other suggestions, though.  I'll post a shot of the BIOS options in another post.

The only other thing I can think to check is that your Windows 7 install media has SP1 already on it - if it does and still won't install, it's very possible the system won't support Windows 7.  More and more systems are popping up where this is the case (it's clear MS wants to bury Windows 7 as soon as possible).

Thanks, yeah it has SP1.  I posted in a couple other threads so maybe that will catch someone's eye. Otherwise I'm gonna return this replacement and just keep my defective laptop that runs Win 7.  I think there are a lot of people still using / wanting to use 7, so MS is just alienating that group in this case.  More folks to deflect to Apple!

I have an Inspiron 11, 3000 series. No internal CD drive. I want to boot a backup and restore utility from my Flash drive and cannot do it without getting this error about the BIOs not being fully ACPI compliant. Tech support is useless. Apparently they do not read these forums to see all the posts where people have had this same problems. Seems like the problem is built into the Dell laptops. This is my last Dell computer.
