External floppy drive on parallel port for any PC?
Hello,
I think this is a recurrent question, but I'd like to know if it is possible to connect a Latitude CPt series external floppy drive to the parallel port of any computer.
Of course, it cannot be used for boot (as it requires BIOS support), but if the thing connects to a standard parallel port, it should be accessible after loading an appropriate driver in the OS.
So, either CPt machines mount a non-standard parallel port to accomodate the floppy, or possibly Dell has never released a generic driver for those devices. Which one?
Thank you,

It meant NO the floppy drive that you can connect externally to older Dell notebook by using a cable to the parallel port will not work on any other system. The floppy drives and cables I got with my C600 and C610 won't even work on my i8200. It has to be supported by the hardware and the BIOS in the notebook. Dell has taken all of that out of the newer models.
So the answer is NO.
