Getting an SPDIF signal out of an XPS 17 L701X

Looking for some help from the good folks on these forums about how to get an SPDIF digital audio signal out of my XPS17 L701X. There is a 3.5mm jack on the side of the computer that says SPDIF. This is good. Now, what to I need to connect this to an external DAC? Is this a TOSLINK optical output and all I need is a 3.5mm to standard TOSLINK cable, or 3.5mm to standard TOSLINK adapter? OR, is this a digital coaxial output?

I also saw that Turtlebeach has a USB device that converts USB output to 3.5mm TOSLINK output.

Thanks!
