HDD Error, Linear read Test 2 Failed, other two Tests skipped!
Hi,
I bought my Dell Laptop 11 months ago with following specifications;
-Dell Inspiron n5520
-Intel Core i7 (Ivy Bridge)
-8 GB RAM
-1 TB HDD
-1 GB Radeon 7670M
-Windows 7
The problem I am facing is that recently(1 month ago) when I run the HDD Extended Tests, it Failed on 'LINEAR READ TEST 2' (Error Code : WHD38-KEP), and the 'SMART Extended Self Test' & 'SMART Threshold Test 2' were skipped.
On the Failed test it said 'Backup your system now to protect data',
Can you tell me what should I do about this? Is my HDD failing? Is there anyway to prevent this by any test?

Hi Abdul Rehman,
What is the issue with the system? Run the Dell diagnostics to check for hard drive issues. Kindly find the steps below to perform the hardware diagnostics.
Turn the computer off >restart the computer.
At the Dell logo screen, start tapping the F12 key a few times until you see the ‘One Time Boot Menu’ appear.
At the one time boot menu, press the down arrow key to highlight ‘Diagnostic’, and then press Enter to begin the PSA diagnostics. If the test fails, please make a note of any error codes listed. You can also refer to the link below.

My hard disk was corrupted. I did run the diagnostics and came up with an error code. Reported that to dell and got my HDD replaced as it was under warranty. Thanks Harish.
