How do I tighten the LCD panel hinge on a Latitude e5530?
How do I tighten the hinge on my Latitude e5530?
I looked through ALL the documentation for the Latitude e5530 and there is no reference to the word "hinge".
I can see how to remove the display assembly, but there is no reference to tightening the hinge (which is part of the display assembly.
Furthermore, removing the display assembly would remove the display AND the hinge... I don't want the whole thing removed... I just want the hinge tightened.

There really is no way to "tighten" the hinge, all you can do is tighten the screws holding the hinge in place to the chassis and the display.

Hi!
Thank you for your response! I might have mis-described my issue... I'd like the hinge to be more stiff (stiffened)... I'd like the lcd to have more resistance when I open and close it.
I know this is possible because I sent my laptop into be repaired for a faulty fan last year... while dell had it, the technician also stiffened up the display so that it doesn't flop around like it had been doing (there is about 1 to 2 inches of "play" in the display before the resistance holds the panel in place.
Anyhow, I was hoping there was an easy fix. I did take off the screen bezel and tightened the hinge screws... but that didn't fix the "floppiness" of the actual screen.

What they likely did is replace the hinges - which is what you'll need to do now. There's no way to tighten the hinges to take up that much movement in them - they need to be replaced.
