How to view home graphics from computer to TV ?
I recently took many photos while on vacation would like to be able to view them on my TV. I purchased a long 15 pin RGB cable and hooked it up from my DELL Inspiron 700M Laptop to to attachment on the TV . I then transfered the pictures to my laptop from my camera . I then tried to click on the pictures on my computer to try and view them on the TV . I had set the TV to RGB viewing , but iall i get is a "NO SIGNAL DETECTED" on the TV screen. I even tried a photo editor and put the pictures into a slideshow and clicked on "play" still no luck with NO SIGNAL DETECTED ! HELP Is there some setting on my Dell Laptop I should be using in order to view the the pictures ? Thanks for any and all suggestions

Hi Jumpingfrogs,
Welcome to the Community. You will not be able to use a RGB cable, I dont know where your connecting this to your laptop, as there is no port on this system. You will need a Svideo cable ( Yellow port on the right side ) or a VGA cable. The svideo cable can have a RGB cable on the other end so it connects to your TV.

Actually this is completely Wrong. R G B is VGA Analog. Svideo is convertable to NTSC composite video but there is no such thing as an SVIDEO to RGB cable. SVIDEO or Y/C in which video information is encoded on two channels: luma (luminance, intensity, "Y") and chroma (colour, "C") and can be combined into a single NTSC composite Video.
This simple adapter can be used to convert Y/C video (S-video) to a composite video. This adapter is useful in cases where your video output device has only S-video output but your signal source accepts only composite video input. This circuit works with both PAL and NTSC video standards.
If your TV has a 4-Pin S-Video connector, then consider our Pro 7-Pin to 4-Pin Cables.
If your laptop has a 4-Pin S-Video connector, then get our Pro 4-Pin S-Video Cables.

The Inspiron 700m has only a VGA port. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins700m/en/SM/pinouts.htm#wp1084976 Apparently JumpingFrogs bought a VGA to s-video cable. This is absolutely useless and a total waste of money and will not work. He needs a male to male VGA cable and a TV with a VGA / RGB / PC input.
The cable that SpeedStep linked will only work if the s-video connector on the PC has a composite video signals on the pins. It does not do any CONVERTING of any video signals. It is merely breaking out the signals to the different connectors. That is all. No video signal converting going on. Here's the pinout from the Inspiron 9100 http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins9100/sm/pinouts.htm#1003870 showing which pins has which video signals. A conventional s-video only requires 4 pins. The 7 pins which Dell has on some of its laptops has the additional composite video signals

Actually one of the cables converts SVideo to composite using the circuit outlined in the previous post.
Our Pro 4-Pin S-Video to 3 RCA allows you to connect your computer's 4-Pin S-Video-out and stereo audio to your television's Red, White and Yellow A/V inputs. Your TV may have easy access to the A/V inputs on the front or side of the TV.
The 470pf capacitor inside does the "conversion".
Most TV's still have the Red, White audio and Yellow Composite video inputs because Game Consoles like the Playstation and the WII and the PSP
still have audio and composite video out just like the old analog VCR's and DVD players do.
No such outputs on a BLUERAY player or any HDCP compliant box.
If you arent into making your own converter you can buy the above or
buy seperate audio and video conversions back to RCA composite video.

I only have a 15 pin VGA port on my dell laptop no S-Video port . I presently hooked up a VGA cable to the TV VGA PC INPUT port on the TV . no signal Whats my solution if any ?

First you need to set the TV to the correct video source.
On my Dell Latitude laptops, Fn+F8 toggles between external display and laptop LCD.
