Insipron 5758- mouse freeze when ac power plugged in

Inspiron 5758 running Windows 10

The laptop works fine until power is applied, plugging in a connected ac power charger causes mouse freeze.

i can plug in the ac power charger but the laptop does not freeze until the power socket is switched on, within 5 seconds of ac power reaching the laptop the mouse freezes.

I have tried the following:

. Bios update applied

. Still the same with usb mouse plugged in

. Synaptics driver latest win 10 applied

. i have removed battery plugged in ac power only on boot up the machine freezes at the point the user name is shown, restart needed.

Looking for suggestions please.

Sounds like a faulty AC adapter or power cable. Possible replacements =
K260C power cable

Chris

Thank you for the suggestion but i have tried three other AC adapters and the problem occurs with all three of them (we have 10+ of this model) as i wanted to eliminate an AC adapter fault before requesting assistance..

And the original AC adapter from the faulty machine works fine on the other laptops.

Any other thoughts very welcome.

Three possible culprits =
* The DC-In jack cable is not connected to the motherboard
* The DC-In jack cable itself is bad
* The port on the motherboard is bad
