Inspirion 15 7567 Gaming. Attempts to update Intel WiFi driver and chipset continuously fail. Need help and advice.

Hello.  I've noticed through the Support Assist program that I have two updates for the Intel WiFi driver and the chipset.  However, repeated attempts to update them have resulted in errors.  Downloading the WiFi driver separately from Dell's website, and then attempting to run it there, have led to the same result.  Tonight, I tried to update the WiFi driver again.  This time, the installer opened up a command prompt window with mup.exe, then the Intel window came up and said the installation was blocked because a newer version was already on the system.

How can I tell whether or not I even need the updates SupportAssist keeps pushing to me?  And if I don't, why does it keep pushing them to me?

Thank you in advance for your help.

My system has the10.1.1.38 chipset driver and I am not being pushed to install a later driver.  To see which driver you have, open Device Manager and look at the Intel 100 Series/C230 chipset family.

I changed my Wi-Fi card to an 8265 which Dell does not show Wi-Fi drivers but does show Bluetooth drivers, so I cannot help with that.

OK, so I checked.  My chipset driver is, like yours, 10.1.1.38, while the WiFi driver (for a dual-band 3165, apparently) appears to be 19.51.2.4.  Now, what SupportAssist keeps telling me to install is as follows:

Network - Intel 8260 7265 3165 7260 3160 WiFi Driver, Version 19.60.0.7, A08, 185 MB.

Chipset - Intel Management Engine Components Installer, Version 11.6.0.1035, A00, 85 MB

So...I'm still a little confused.

If you're seeing this twice, my apologies.  This forum is kind of wonky.

It looks like the Wi-Fi driver does need to be updated.  I can't tell about the Management engine but possibly it also.

I always try to download and install the drivers myself so I know when something is being installed  Doing as you seem to have done by downloading the driver and double clicking to get it to run should work.  I do not use the download manager just download directly.

I have never had a problem like you seem to be having as far as the mup.exe but possibly something has gotten corrupted with your install.  What I normally do is use the Device Manager to uninstall the device and check the box to uninstall all drivers.  Then I install the downloaded version which should already be on your system

The Intel Management Engine should also install normally without having to uninstall first and it is located in the Systems devices section of the Device Manager.
