Inspirion 1545 - problems when I go into yahoo poker to play. My letters are numbers when I try to chat in the poker room

I'm having problems withi my Inspirion 1545 keyboard when I try and play poker in yahoo. When I try and type letters, numbers come up. When I use my yahoo messenger I get letters. Is there some file I need to download to get my keyboard to work in the game forum? I did a test and everything came up Ok. I'm typing on my laptop now but I can't seem to use it when I go into yahoo hold'em poker. Has anyone out here have that same problem. Oh by the way, this is my first time trying to use my new laptop in the hold'em poker. Can someone please help me out.
