Inspirion laptop says error code 0F00:075D and 0244
I've noticed that sometimes when I turn on my laptop starts blinking and going crazy. Then I wait and it comes back to normal. I decided to do the fn+power and got this error- code 0142. I proceeded to the system tree and got these. long self test Disk_0-self test read error 0F00:075D, seek test -pass, verify test 0F00.1A44, invalid scan code detected. Expected:e012 read 003f, Disk_o block 447191197 Error Code 0F00:0244. I've read around and I'm not too keen on getting a new hard drive because that would basically mean dismantling my laptop to get there. That's really scary! Is there anything I can do first? System restore? Re-installing Vista? I read this
"I would suggest that you choose the "Symptom" option and choose Drive Self Test Extended (faster than the read test) and note "How many" uncorrectables you have. If you have one or two then it might not be a bad drive rather something happened when the drive was trying to write a location and corrupted it." Please if anyone can enlighten me on this I would greatly appreciate it.

There's nothing you can do to repair a failing drive - it needs to be replaced.
