Inspiron 14z-5423 SSD upgrade

Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading my 450gb HDD to a 128gb Crucial M550 SSD. My question is whether the M550 model is compatible with 14z-5423.

Thanks.

It'll work fine, but since the system will take only one drive, you might want to consider a 250 G drive as a bare minimum.  It doesn't take much to fill a 128, and you can often find the 250G drives around $100 now on sale.

Hi, I also have the same model. found a empty msata slot inside machine. Installed and cloned a 250g crucial ssd. Removed the original hd. Boot at ssd and hanged when login w8. Is the msata slot only be used as cache?

I want replace HDD with an SSD and install Windows 7.

I do not want to use the mSATA 32GB (cahcé). (Perhaps to install Linux in the future)

How should I set the BIOS?

Intel Speed Step (Enabled / Disabled)

Sata Operation (Intel Smart Response T. / AHCI / ATA)

Intel Rapid Start Technology (Enabled / Disabled)

Boot List Option (UEFI / Legacy)

Any other settings required?
