Inspiron 15 3542 backlit keyboard
Hi All,
I bought my Inspiron 15 3542 back in November and would like to replace the existing keyboard with a backlit one. I think the part number is G7P48. My question is if the laptop didn't come with this feature, will this replacement work?
Thanks,
Nick

I bought a 27$ DELL keyboard with the backlit keys... works perfectly. Never had any issues, its woth it 100%. Dell 15 3542 same as you. Mine was a EU version so no backlights, but now its awsome.

Hi there npolite2- I purchased a backlit keyboard for a 3542, Installed mobility center, hooked it up, lite comes on for a moment when first installing and then goes dim. Keyboard keys have no effect (fn+F10).
Mobility center has the ambient light sensor greyed out, and changing the keyboard brightness in the UI has no effect. Any suggestions? I would be eternally in debt to you :)

What O/S are you using. I recall the mobility center worked in 8.1, so if you are using 10, that may be the issue. Once I set it I didn't need to worry about it again. Either that or an update to the BIOS disabled it. May also want to try an earlier version of the mobility center.
