Hi,
Welcome to the Community.
Inspiron 1525 meets the system requirement for Windows 8.
I would like to inform we do not have Windows 8 compatible drivers as of now.
Once the drivers are tested and stable, they would get uploaded on the drivers page.
Thanks & Regards

Do not worry. No new drivers will be needed, except possibly for the touch pad. New drivers are available from the touch pad manufacturers. Even if you don't get a new driver, Win 8 will install a usable basic driver itself. My M1530 which is older than your 1525 had no problems except for the pad driver.

Don't think they even released Windows 7 drivers for this model so I doubt they will do anything for Windows 8. As mentioned above it should probably work all out the box with the exception for Bluetooth which you can use the driver here: http://ftp1.dell.com/folder00865420m/1/

So my question is how do I know if the Windows 8 box that I am looking at says upgrade or full version?
The Windows 8 at Costco appears to be an Upgrade. But at Staples the box I looked at looked was the same but the sales
person said it is full version Win 8.
Then what is the best way to do a clean install of Win 8. I know there are several sights and seems like multiple ways to do a clean install. I find that none of them are really clean.
And my Dells keep going and going

My Mic doesn't work after installing Windows 8. I am using Dell Inspiron 1525. Therefore even if Dell says the drivers should be compatible, they are not (it seems like). Anyone has any solutions to fixing this issue??

Hi sumtata,
Windows 8 drivers for this system are not available as it has not been tested with Windows 8. You may refer to the link on Dell Computer Support for Windows 8 Upgrade http://dell.to/RnDAFu
The available drivers are compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista 32 bit. You may try installing the audio driver or Windows Vista in compatibility mode which may or may not work:

For this system you have the Intel GM965. As mentioned before Dell do not support Windows 7 or Windows 8 on this model.
Windows 7 / Windows 8 32 Bit / 64 Bit Intel Chipset Installation Utility
This is the latest driver from Intel. Note Windows 8 might have this version preinstalled, if it says it does you don't need to install it.
Windows 7 / Windows 8 32 Bit Intel GM965
Windows 7 / Windows 8 64 Bit Intel GM965
These are Windows 7 Drivers from Intel but work on Windows 8.
Windows 7 / Windows 8 32 Bit / 64 Bit Ricoh Card Reader
This is a Windows 7 Driver from Dell from another model but will install the driver for your card reader. Quite often the card reader isn't installed.
Once you have installed the above have a look at Windows Reinstallation Guide / A Clean Install of Windows 8 Step 12 and check if there are any errors listed in the device manager.

It works. But I have some trouble with a webcam. Without driver picture has low resolution. With driver its says that "Webcam is used by another application". Sometime it works - I don't know why.

Hi,
I am using Inspiron 1525. On windows 8.1 my webcam isn't working for Skype and Video Apps. But if I am installing the Skype software it is working. Do I need to update my driver or any other work around is there?
Thanks in Advance.

Try in the Windows 8 Camera App and ensure the settings are changed to allow the App to use the camera and retry. Have a look at this tutorial video for more information:
