Inspiron 1545 A/C adapter question

I am looking into buying a dc adapter for my 1545 but the info page on the dell site says that the adapter only gives off 65Watts and quite a few reviews stating it is not enough power do I need to go with one that is 90Watts or is the 65W sufficient? The AC adapter that comes with the computer, what is the Watts of it? I've looked on it but cannot find it maybe I am blind lol.

Thank you

I missed that you wanted a DC adapter. There are auto/airplane adapters available. I prefer the normal AC adapter used with a DC-to-AC inverter in the car. 100 Watt inverters are not expensive and work fine for laptops in the car. Using the Dell AC adapter guarantees the battery will be charged correctly. The Dell DC car supplies are expensive. They have a cigarette adapter with a DC plug for only $10, but this will give you an unregulated variable voltage, which might be OK for running the laptop, but not for charging the battery.

the label on the AC adapter itself should say the power dissapation; my PA-16 for my Latitude 110L is 60W; works perfectly fine

The ac adapter that came with is a XK850 model the only thing i see is that it takes 19.5V output and 100-240V input but for the life of me I cannot find anything that says its wattage

If you have a 6 cell battery (58 watts) you only need a 65 watt charger. The nine cell needs the 90 watt charger. However, get the 90 watt unit even if you have the smaller battery. It will recharge the battery faster. Dell sometimes ships the 90 watter with the smaller battery. Don't buy from Dell. You can get an official Dell unit from third party sellers for about a third of Dell's price.

www.buy.com for the battery. Try them for the charger also. Do a web search for the charger and specify "original". There are many third party replacements, but some sell real ones.

I missed the DC adapter part too.

Be sure to buy one that gives you at least 50% cushion. In other words, if your Dell AC adapter is rated 60W then make sure the DC adapter is at least 90W.

http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/products/accessories/acmobile-power.html   has some good ones to consider

I have the CPS150SI which was on sale, but I would buy the CPS150CHI if I had to do it over again. The CHI uses a kludgy adapter if you have AC plug that has 3 prongs.
