Inspiron 17R SE 7720 Hard Drive/Video Card
Hi,
In the past few days I have heard a buzzing sound coming from my laptop. During these days I had to boot and then shut down as the computer froze shortly after logging on. Boot times were subsequently long. After doing this several times though my laptop performed as normal. I ran chkdsk, but no errors were found.
Now, however, the laptop failed to boot at all and directed me to the Pre-boot System Assessment. Upon doing a thorough test, it found no Hard Drive installed along with the error 2000-0332 (Validation 78540) for the Video Card.
This is the third problem I've had with the Hard Drive's used, and despite having had the first one replaced, this one has failed once again. Only this time, my warranty has ran out.
What am I supposed to do now, with no warranty?..

Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Disconnect and reconnect the hard drive and both memory modules. Boot to the diagnostics again and run the extended system test. On this model, the video chip and video RAM are part of the mainboard - if the video RAM fails, the system board needs to be replaced.
Has the system been running abnormally hot? That can easily kill both the hard drive and mainboard components as well.

I did as you said. The video card passed the test with no problems being found. However, this hard drive error occurred: Error Code 2000-0142, Validation 80154, Hard Drive 0 - S/N WXC1A43U8308, Long self test unsuccessful.
The laptop hasn't overheated at all whilst using a hard surface, though it usually will though after ~2 hours of intensive usage (games) on my lap/bed. The area near the hard drive I've noticed has been hot. Peak temperatures recorded during diagnostics: CPU 87°C, Ambient 52°C, Video 75°C, Chipset 72°C, SODIMM 78°C.

Since you'll be opening up the system to replace the faulty hard drive, give the system a thorough internal dusting at the same time - those temperatures are a bit higher than they should be.
