Inspiron 6400 Bluetooth
Hello,
I would like some input regarding the bluetooth facility for my Inspiron 6400.
I believe that my laptop is equipped with bluetooth as I can see the bluetooth logo next to the power button.
But I am unable to make a bluetooth connection.
In the Control Panel I dont see the option Bluetooth Devices.
Do I need to download/update any driver or install some patch ?
Thank You.

Open device manager and click the (+) next to bluetooth.
Another way to check, you will see a 1" long bay just above where your battery sits.open it up and see if there is a bluetooth card inside the slot.
Here is where the bay is.

Is the blue light switched on or off, bluetooth was optional with this model so you may have not purchased the card.
If you want to add a card remove battery and ac adaptor, there is a hatch in the battery bay, its an easy operation to add one:
For some reason I had to use the Vista and then the XP bluetooth driver to get mines to work on Vista, either the Dell 350 bluetooth module of the Dell 355 Bluetooth module will do:

As for if you need the part, go to eBay I bought one for my sisters and it worked fine.

Also recommend the following Intel PROSET Wireless, over the Dell Wireless Card:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=***&sbrftog=1&from=R40&fcid=3&gbr=1&satitle=4965+intel&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=34%26fsoo%3D1
If you already have intel PROSET Wireless opposed to Dell Wireless omit this, Intel PROSET Wireless has nothing to do with bluetooth.
