Inspiron 700m 71WHr Battery?

Hello,

After purchasing an Inspiron 700m, I realized that I needed more power than the regular 32WHr battery could offer. Looking for a more affordable solution, I was browsing the eBay listings. I came across batteries rated at 71WHr, claiming to be genuine Dell batteries. As far as I could tell from the assortment on the public Dell website, they only offer 32WHr and 65WHr batteries. Can anyone shed some light on this, and tell me if I am purchasing a genuine Dell product?

E mailed the seller and awaiting his reply.  He is a major Power Seller with excellent feedback I have used before. P/N listed is 310-0306, versus Dell site P/N 312-0306 for the 65Whr.

Seller has replied battery is the correct one. He states that Dell have discontinued the 65Whr. battery and replaced it with the 71Whr. If you have any questions on this you probably should contact Dell directly (warranty implications et al).

corrchm- Hi. I saw your post. I just received my new 700m and realized that I should have bought the 8cell with the laptop.Contacted Dell, and they said that I would have to pay the reg. price (almost 200.00) to order it. Adding it to the order would have only cost around 90.00. I too, saw the batteries on ebay. Did you ever order one? Does it work? I am tempted to send my laptop back (still have 2 weeks) and reorder with the battery. thanks. chilly

I ordered my 71WHr battery off of eBay. It was brand new, no scratches and works great. It only cost me 80 plus shipping. I would highly recommend it. Just make sure you buy from someone with high ratings and with a return policy just in case, otherwise, go for it!
