Inspiron E1505 replacement battery not recognized
Hello,
My Dell Inspiron E1505 battery stopped working awhile ago. I ordered a new replacement battery (not Dell brand but a genuine one). But it is not working. I get the following message when I start the laptop.
"The model number for the primary battery cannot be determined. this will prevent any battery present from charging. please insert a dell battery for best system operation."
Replacement battery does mention the same model number GD761. Could someone please help me resolve this? I am hoping this battery will work and Dell should not force us to buy only theirs.
Thanks a ton!
Kumar

I usually get Dell branded 9 cell batteries for this unit from ebay sellers and they have been very reliable and caused no problems.
This is who I got mine from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/batterytop&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID and I recommend. I may buy another 9cell battery as a backup shortly.

Hey Kumar,
Great post. I'm going through the same problem and think I'll return the battery I have and replace my laptop with a more customer-respectful brand. My tolerance for lock-in games like this is near zero.

Be careful what you do buy - most notebooks are designed similarly. Certainly Sony, Toshiba, HP, Compaq, Lenovo and many others are.

Don't buy the wrong brand laptop battery later. If you have a Dell Inspiron E1505 and you should buy a Inspiron E1505 battery.

I don't like buy products from Ebay, although they are cheap, the quality is not guaranteed. I have ever purchased one replacement from Brilliant Store. It is not original Inspiron E1505, but works well, and it is 7200mAh, 9 Cells
