Inspiron N5110 4 Beeps at startup

Hello!  For some reason my Dell INSPIRON N5110 is not booting up correctly.  When I start it up the screen remains black for some time and starts to beep 4 times.  Dont get me wrong, I did do my research and knw that it is a read / write RAM error according to the beep code table for dell laptops.  With this in mind, I did attempt to change the RAM sticks but it didnt work.

Hey Sosolid,

Looking at the Dell beep codes & error codes page it seems to indicate a RAM failure. You can try removing the RAM one at a time to isolate which piece (or both) of RAM has failed.

Here is the Dell page, scroll down to the Beep Codes section, just past 1/3 of the way down. There is a 2nd section as well so don't overlook that:

The solution, once isolated to which stick of RAM, is to replace that RAM.

Hope this helps!

In all honesty... That doesn't help me at all cause I tried to use 2 other sticks but it still results in the same beeping.

Hey Sosolid,

Aye that's unfortunate. I hate to be the bearer of bad news on Christmas eve but that's pretty much a for-sure a failed logic board (or the other set of RAM is also bad, which is less likely).

I'm not sure how old your system is but if it's not worth the investment to you then maybe it could be an excuse to get a new computer? Like a forced holiday gift...  :emotion-7:

Lol it's k.  I was kinda anticipating the news.  It's not mine however it's my dad's.  Anyways I'm pretty sure it's the mobo cause the sticks I tried came out of a laptop I currently use which functions okay with the RAM being responsive as ever.  Anyways thanks for verifying.  I guess I was just a bit optimistic.

I had the same problem with my Inspiron N5110. I randomly took out one RAM - apparently that was the bad one - and was able to boot my laptop normally with the remaining RAM. First thing first, I'm backing up all of my data right now just in case. Thanks so much to you all for saving my day.
