Installing Dell Media Direct 3.5 after Windows 7 OS Installation

Hi

I have a Dell XPS M1530 which came with Windows Vista. I recently installed Windows 7 ultimate but forgot to start with Dell Media Direct 3.5. Is there a way in which i can install  Dell Media Direct 3.5 after since i don't want to format my PC and start the tiresome process of installing software and copy data? Thanks in advance

I don't believe that you can't.

Dell MediaDirect is a pre-boot interface that provides access to video, music, photos, and certain Microsoft Office features without you needing to load Windows. You will need to format your existing hard drive, and you will need to reinstall Media Direct 3.5 before you reinstall Windows. This can be accomplished using the Dell MediaDirect 3.5 Installation CD.

How to Reinstall Media Direct

  1. Turn on the computer and press "F12" repeatedly until the message "Preparing one-time boot menu..." appears.
  2. Insert your Dell MedaDirect reinstallation CD.
  3. Use the up or down arrows on the keyboard to select the "CD/DVD/CD-RW" option and press "Enter."
  4. Select "Partition the hard drive" from the list of options on the Media Direct installation menu.
  5. Select "Option 1" to use the entire hard drive. If you want to designate only a portion of your hard drive for installation, select "Option 2."
  6. Remove the installation CD when the installer returns to the main menu.
  7. Restart the computer.
  8. Press "F12" repeatedly during bootup to enter the one-time boot menu.
  9. Insert your Windows installation CD or DVD, select "CD/DVD/CDRW" and press "Enter."
  10. Follow the prompts to begin re-installing your operating system.
